How this was calculated
- Open run with 0 corner(s): 1 run(s), exact run lengths (gates assumed mid-run).
- 1 gate(s) × 4 ft removed from infill: 150 ft total → 146 ft net fence.
- Terminal posts = 2 end + 0 corner + 2 gate. Line posts keep every bay ≤ 6 ft (set by panel width). Gates assumed mid-run.
- Vinyl prebuilt panels 6 ft wide, one per bay.
- Waste allowance 10% applied only to cuttable/breakable items; posts, panels, hardware and concrete are bought at required quantity.
Planning estimate only — not a contractor quote. Actual pricing varies by location, terrain, material quality, permits and project complexity.
How panel count is calculated
Panels = ceil((length − gate openings) ÷ panel width)
Wood panels are typically 8 ft wide; vinyl, aluminum and composite are commonly 6 ft (some vinyl is 8 ft). The last panel is often cut to fit, which is why the count rounds up.
Panel width sets the post spacing, so every bay holds exactly one panel. Chain link has no panels — use the material calculator for fabric and top rail.
Frequently asked questions
